Do the Nielsen's VideoScan lists tell you the number of scans it took to obtain that position?

What exactly are Nielsen rating based on anyway? I was told it had to do more with sponsorship and the amount of companies wanting to market their stuff during the show.

Anyway I'm surprised, I don't watch the show, I was aware Naruto was popular in the US but I wasn't aware it was very popular, is it the next Pokemon? Hopefully Naruto can survive it's filler arc.

It took over that spot once it premiered. Seriously, though. This campaign is killing me. How in the heck am I supposed to keep up with 12 volumes in four months, huh? Mad Not only that, but there are a jillion other things being released besides the movie. Ah, well, I'd rather keep up with other series and actually finish them.

Or hopefully we can skip it altogether and jump right into Shippuden, if they want to keep the momentum going (or air the fillers and Shippuden back-to-back on Saturday nights or something).

Simple solution: Don't buy the stuff until you're ready. I hope Viz and other companies release more manga and series this way; I appreciate being able to catch up to Japan far more quickly.

It's more of an issue with money as well as trying to keep up with all the other things I'm interested in. I've stopped buying the manga volumes for now (I may buy them in bulk for my birthday or something), and I did the same thing with Bleach and FMA. I certainly hope they don't release manga like that all the time -- how would anyone be able to keep up with anything? Do you have the money and time to buy these things every month (in this case, three times a month)? Maybe I'm a college student with no understanding of these things. I prefer the slow, laid-back releases of Mushi-Shi, etc. I know everyone hated when Naruto was released slowly in Shonen Jump, but at least I had the budget to keep up with that.

This country's kid's needed another Dragonball.

And I'm not sure myself if I'm being sarcastic about that.

Naruto is pretty popular, but it's nowhere near the peak popularity of Pokemon (or even Dragonball Z, for that matter). It's just that Viz is currently doing this Naruto Nation thing and they're advertising the show/manga to death.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I've been surprisingly struggling to keep up with it all myself. In fact, I haven't even found the time and money yet to even buy the movie yet, nonetheless the 4th Uncut Box Set (here's hoping I win the contest on this site so I can get the 5th one, but that'll probably not happen. Wink ).

I myself have also been having some problems with other series as well. I mean, I can't even get around to buying the FMA box sets I'd really like to start buying, nonetheless Funi's One Piece box sets, as well as the Bleach ones. Mostly because I'm too overly focused on other manga I'd like to be buying right now as well. It's pretty frustrating to say the least! Mad

I've been already trying the whole thing about buying it when I'm ready instead of all at once, I mean, last month I got 16 right as it came out and the other two latter on in the month, but I still seem to be having problems with it. I don't know, maybe Ko is right about going and buying them in batches latter, that sounds like a good idea.

The thing is...Shippuden's pretty damn terrible too. It's half filler itself.

But, the rumor going around is that Shippuden and the Naruto fillers are going to air simultaneously, since Viz keeps talking about how Shippuden will begin like six months after they begin releasing Part Two of the manga next year. It wouldn't be the first time - 4Kids dubbed and aired the final season of Yu-Gi-Oh! and the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX simultaneously.
