The only To Heart series (in my opinion) that was atleast somewhat good was Remember My Memories. To Heart first season's characters are too boring and their lives are also dull that it doesn't make for a good slice of life show. To Heart II is probably the worst in the series.

Well I don't really understand why slice of life needs to be super exciting or something. As far as the volume, I would have to say if you didn't like To Heart vol. 1 or 2 you will certainly not like this volume. The multi saga is probably the best of the supporting girl storylines though. It's more of a true slice series, as opposed to the random strangeness "slice of life" found in Azumanga or School Rumble. So not for everyone but its a nice zen series focused on characters not craziness for those people into that sort of thing.

Akari's brief childhood-memory montage suggests that her relationship with Hiroyuki might, in the next few eons, be headed somewhere.
Not pulling any punches here, are we? Laughing It's like they say...it's funny 'cause it's true. But for all its barbs at To Heart, I have to say this review does give a good sense of who will like the series and who will not. Even as a fan of it, I'd have to say that it's less exciting than many other slife series. Such as Piano (also from TRSI), which is one of the purest slife anime I've ever seen, lacking completely in robots, crazy foreign transfer students, martial arts girls, psychics, or occult maniacs. Once again I have to respect TRSI for bringing this over with full loving treatment, because I doubt other companies in this day and age would've done so.

But for fans of visual novel & H-game adaptations, TH is worth a look imo for historical reasons. As far as I can tell, it's the second such adaptation that isn't a hentai OVA, the first being 1998's Sentimental Journey (released by Media-Blasters). Supposedly it helped launch the careers of Ayako Kawasumi (Akari) and Yui Horie (Multi), in addition to paving the way for various other game adaptations like Kanon (2002), Da Capo, and Rumbling Hearts. So depending on one's take on those series, To Heart is either a great blessing or a great curse.

Her name is Multi? I've seen pictures of her anywhere anime related for years now and yet never knew her name.

I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm hearing the entire review in my head being read by Ben Stein.

They don't need to be exciting, but they should be... something. Funny, exciting, dramatic... The best slice of life series are perhaps those that aren't funny, dramatic or exciting, but feature plenty of character development and offer the viewers insight into the characters' emotions and motivation.

As long as there is something to it, in addition to the characters' daily routine.
