Good Lord!
I think that we collectors, deep down, all dream of having an anime and/or manga collection that would rival our nearest brick-and mortar establishment, filled to the rafters with all our favorites. At the moment I'm too cheap to buy a PS3 so even though I'm interested im Freedom that'll have to wait. Ouran and Rozen Maiden also look interesting. I'm more of a manga guy, myself--are these titles out in print? |

Words can't do justice to an epic collection like that. Just.....wow. IIRC, it's been a while since Shelf Life had one that big.
As for this week, only Ouran catches my interest, but it'll have to wait until next year since my budget for the remaining anime DVD purchases for this year is all planned out already. |

Dear Bamboo, thank you for being one of the very few reviewers who actually seems to get Rozen Maiden. I do believe your's is the only review I've ever read that used "creepy" in connection with the living dolls rather than some subtext they thought was there.
Although I personally enjoyed that episode with Hina-Ichigo, I can see where you're coming from with it. (The last volume should be suitably Alice Game-centered for you. And it's it freaking nice to be talking about the second volume after all this time!) Also, lucky you didn't grow up in my house. My mother collects dolls. They even gave me nightmares and I kinda like dolls. 
Rozen Maiden had some issues with it's release since Geneon, the company putting it out, sort of died for a little while. Their distribution is now being handled by Funimation though so if you'd like to check the series out, you can find the DVDs. (A full set for the first season is already out.) Wow, that collection is outstanding. Conlan and Sharla are lucky to have a love of animation and anime in common. It's truly wonderful when couples can share their hobbies instead of berating each other over them. (I've read some horror stories about forced garage sales and such.) My collection doesn't hold a candle.

Wow, really? You'd think people who are getting married would know what to expect from the other in terms of interests/hobbies by that point. Apparently not, though. Also, garage sales? Odd place to sell/look for anime (granted, I look, but my neighborhood consists of around 800 houses, and we do a neighborhood-wide yard sale every summer, so there's tons of options. That being said, all I've managed to find are some DBZ VHS tapes.  ).

Hey, Bamboo - I was wondering if you watched or read Shugo Chara! yet because that's another Peach-Pit series that falls in line with Rozen Maiden - cute girls, visually outstanding character designs, and a well-established storyline. Echoing what my fellow Rozen Maiden fan Richard J. said, thank you for giving the troublesome dolls their props. RM is one of my all-time favorite series, and the only one in my collection that I can comfortably watch in Japanese without the subtitles. Mostly because I watched it so many times I memorized the dialogue, but mainly because of how well the character interactions were portrayed, and I can somewhat relate to Jun's situation of lonliness and self-doubt. Plus Suiseiseki is nothing short of awesome, much like that collection in this week's column!

That collection right there is epic and I also think that it will serve as an inspiration for aspiring DVD collector's and otaku to come. THAT is simply amazing

"Oh My GOD!" at that collection, I admit that I probably have more games than they do (not as many JRPGs), but not anime. My anime doesn't even fill up a cabinet (mostly in part because I do not want it to). My inner Tezuka fandom writhes with jealousy for 1960 Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion sets (and Kino's Journey and Maison Ikkoku always get automatic jealousy). I just cannot comprehend how they have time to watch them all (or any of them again for that matter). Part of why my collection will never get that big is that I sell things that I know I will never watch again.
I might get Ouran eventually, I'm not particularly a fan of the genre, but then again, I was almost the exact opposite demographic for Princess Tutu (only other magical girl show I've even remotely enjoyed was CardCaptor Sakura, but I only read the manga on that one and I enjoy Princess Tutu a lot more) and I enjoyed the heck out of it, so I never know...I can think of one friend right now who may pick it up, so I'll try to watch some episodes from them first |

It's not just how many they have, its what they have. They have the original bento box release of Rurouni Kenshin!!! It's impossible to find those. I'm glad i got mine before they started stocking up on the economy boxes. They also have X with the slip cover releases. I gotta say, they must be making money to have a collection like that. My collection doesn't even compare to their video game portion of their shelves.

Those...those shelves...I am speechless. Man, I can only dream one day I have HALF of those (or half that many, considering alot are out of print). Pretty Impressive.

Though, I find it generally weird when people just keep everything in its original packaging, etc; even as I'm building my collection now, it's to enjoy as well, not just to collect. I'm sure some of those rarities will fetch a pretty penny in the future, but even still, rare Like New copies of something still go for a lot if out of print, and you actually get to enjoy it rather than it just sitting there on the shelf looking pretty ;P Aw those poor sad uncompleted Higurashi and Wallflower boxes  And everything's in Alphabetical order! No words for this, it's simply too amazing
