Hmm, that's interesting. I can't say I really had any problems with the art. The characters definitely did seem a fair bit awkward at times but then, I don't know that it was worse than other CG anime or most anime in general. As the review said, the plot never really develops any of the topics it brings up. In the end, Vexille kept me entertained throughout though. I was certainly never bored. But it left no kind of lasting impression or impact. Thus I wouldn't really give it that good of a rating. If you've looking to pass the time or for a good action flick, I'd definitely recommend it though.

Provided the film is a better expenditure of one's time than sitting in front of a blank screen for 105 minutes, it has some grounds to be considered a success; I can think of several motion pictures which aren't worthy of such an accolade. |

I thought the animation in Vexille was a lot better than in either of the Appleseed films (to which it is so often compared) - it lacked that awful clinical sheen over everything, and the props that the character models were interacting with actually seemed to have some weight. I'll definitely add this to my list of titles to buy on Blu-Ray when I get myself a player, because it would be completely worth it to see this in high definition. Japan totally can't CGI people, though; does anyone know if they used motion capture for this as well?
My thoughts on the substance of the movie were mostly in line with the review - it had a lot of potential and interesting things to say but did absolutely nothing with them, and I'd love to see the story expanded into an OAV or actual series. Still, there was this weird kind of raw, human feeling to it that made me love it like junk food or something. I also give thumbs up to the awesome dub, which just so happened to feature absolutely everyone I totally loved from the FMA dub (Plus no one I hated, a bonus) and was incredibly well acted to boot. I tried the Japanese track and ended up switching over about ten minutes in because I couldn't stand the girl who was voicing Vexille. The soundtrack also is major win. It's one of the few that was so incredibly awesome that I had to import it only a couple days after I saw the movie. |

I will say that I was disappointed that they didn't keep the original Japanese ending song by mink on this, and instead opted to use her "English version" that was also on the R3 release if I remember correctly.
