Been wanting to watch this, but never got around to whatever DVDs were released. Will VIZ even finish this?

One of the main reason I think this series underperformed was because they release this 52 episodes show as singles(they also did that for Hikaru no Go, a 75 eps show). I'm glad though, Viz is at least now streaming more anime series, that they didn't finsh on DVD.

I'd forgotten that this started streaming on their site, so I've been meaning to watch it. While I haven't read the manga, I've been trying to get into a few of Tanemura's works, so until I read the manga I figure watching the Full Moon anime would do some sort of justice.

The idea that it may never be re-released on DVD - and then at the same time completely - kinda disturbs me if I actually do enjoy the series enough to invest in it, but I digress.

Coming into this series when it was first airing after watching her previous work, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne several years before that, I really enjoyed it.

While it is meant at somewhat younger audiences, it takes on some rather serious issues at times that you don't normally see for this age group. Definitely a twist for the usual "magical idol" sub-genre.

That said, you will either love or hate myco's performance as Mitsuki. I found it kinda grating, but you get used to it after awhile. And it may be the reason she never had another voice role after this one ;D

Speaking of which ... I should catch up on her more recent works. I've only read a few chapters of Gentlmen's Alliance, and I believe she has another new one serialized atm.

Please, please, release DVD boxsets, Viz! I want to own the whole series. The singles were just getting to the good part when they stopped coming out. Sad

Mitsuki is singing so that her missing love Eichi will find her, yet she's magically altered and sings under an assumed name—how does that work?

One of the more unfortunate elements of the anime coming out too quickly. That was intentional all along in the manga, but in the anime it makes her look like a bit of a retard. I mean, the manga reasoning still works, but less so.

tl;dr, the author knew it was silly.

Eek oh my gosh I hadn't heard about this! Does Viz plan to stream the whole series? That would be such a dream come true!! I've wanted to finish watching this forever and have been really disappointed that the DVDs were discontinued. I'm really fond of the manga, which is generally deeper and more hard-hitting than the anime, but this version is really fun and I'd love to see it to completion!

I read the manga and enjoyed it, but all my friends told me that the anime wasn't as good at all, so I never watched it.

Viz Anime

I hope they show all the episodes, right now they are still within the DVD release. I own the 7 released dvd's and was really disappointed when the DVD release was suspended.

Manga's better. =P

...though not without its own problems.

But Mitsuki is a pretty interesting character in the manga while she's a bit of a pollyanna in the anime.

thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, the site won't let me watch the series, since I'm from good old Europe.

To Crunchyroll, Viz Media and Hulu : Go F**k yourselves. Hard.

A great show, but the review is right, it's really one of those slow-burn animes that takes its time in getting going.

Once it does get going, though, it basically blows the whole magical girl thing out of the water and becomes a gripping series with some amazingly emotional moments.

Plus it has one of the best series finales of any anime I've seen.

Great review! Full Moon is one of my favorite series of all time >.< It's a shame VIZ stopped releasing the DVDs. If it streams well I hope it encourages them to eventually finish the series.

It's exactly as Wyvern says- Full Moon starts out slow and kind of silly at first, but when it really gets going in the second half the series is one of the most touching and emotionally griping stories you'll see in a long time.

The anime is quite different from the manga, but just equally as good in it's own way. For fans of the story the anime is highly worth checking out. Don't let the beginning throw you off.

I'm glad to hear they're streaming it, I've been really sad that I couldn't buy the rest of the DVD's. I think the show is great, and I think it strangely has a more mature look on relationships than alot of shoujo series, despite it being targetted at younger girls. Plus I adore Meroko's character. She starts out as the cliched third wheel, but what they do with her is amazing, and really atypical for that character type. spoiler[Namely, she comes to accept that Takuto doesn't care about her in that way, rather than getting conveniently paired off with someone else.]
