Well this is a little frustrating, I was hoping that CR would be streaming more titles that other sites weren't already simulcasting, especially since there are still a lot that I want to see. There's just one more spot left and I'm not holding my breath, reeeaaallly don't want to have to go back to fansubs now. >.<

They originally had 11 boxes there but they suddenly removed one. Also, at AX they said they would have 25 animes streaming - 13 from previous seasons and 12 new.

I'm hoping for a Kamisama No Memocho stream though it seems unlikely.

Never expected this to happen. So NicoNico and Crunchyroll are both simulcasting two shows.

When was the last time more than one site was simulcasting something already on Crunchyroll (Excluding Bleach, Naruto Shippuden, and Blue Exorcist-that was everywhere.)?

Fall 2010: Both Crunchyroll and Funimation simulcast Sora no Otoshimono: Forte.

Spring 2010: Both Crunchyroll and TAN simulcast Demon King Daimao.

Those are two that come immediately to mind.

When Funimation announced they acquired the rights to Strike Witches 2 shortly after CR started the simulcast, they also stated they would be simulcasting it, but failed to follow through.

I suspect with NicoNico's relationship with Kadokawa, going forward we will see more shared simulcasts where they are involved.

FYI, NicoNico and CR actually share three simulcasts, as both also have R-15. The odd one out is the other Kadokawa series, Twin Angel:Twinkle Paradise.

Why are CR and NicoNico acquiring the same licenses? Isn't that sorta like, mutually assured destruction? Well, I mean a bad conflict.

CR's pattern is to let everyone watch archived episodes and make the latest simulcast a premium feature.
NicoNico's pattern seams to be they let everyone watch the latest simulcast episode and make archived episodes a premium feature.

Doesn't acquiring the same license screw up both of their premium services by letting someone go to NicoNico for the latest episode and CR for the ones before it bypassing both of the sites' premium content.

That being said, NicoNico only seams to be streaming Blood-C and Uta no Prince outside of the US, so CR is going to be getting most of the non-US traffic for all three series (R-15 is also in both their lineup).

Disappointing to see a Hulu-esque pattern on NicoNico, I was curious about Twin Angel and wanted to at least try out the first ep but was locked out.

Man. I'm really hoping that Kami-sama no Memo-cho and Ikoku Meiro no Croisee get streamed, so this is a biiit disappointing. :>

I really hate fansubs, so I'm going to be very saddened if these don't get picked up. Especially since they got nice reviews on first episodes from ANN. *crosses fingers*

I wouldn't be surprised if Twin Angel is also announced by Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll has a good relationship with Kadokawa, and the three series Crunchyroll shares with Niconico, and Twin Angel, are all Kadokawa titles. Wouldn't matter much to me either way, though, because even I (who tends to like magical girl stuff) am unenthusiastic about the show so far... Curious what's left to be announced regardless.

No. 6 is one of them actually. Anime hyper Heck, since Funimation just held a noitaminA panel I was expecting them to pick this one up (since it seems really weird to try and promote the line and then not do anything with it) and was also expecting Funi to pick up Baka to Test 2, another one I want, since they announed they already have DVD/BR rights to it.
Other than those, mostly just the other shows mentioned in the thread, Menmo-cho and Ikoku and Penguindrum (which for some reason I keep thinking has the best shot since the other two Brains Base shows this season are streaming on CR, plus it just aired today yet won't air on all the channels in Japan for another week).
So yeah, clearly I want to watch/try out more shows this season than can be reasonably simulcast. Razz

Keep in mind that NicoNico in a way has an even closer relationship with Kadokawa. The parent company of NicoNico invested in Kadokawa and visa versa.

I speculated over in the CR forum that CR may have passed on Twin Angel in an attempt to get Kadokawa to back off on the one week exclusivity to NicoNico, but picked up the other 3 series under those terms when Kadokawa stood firm. It could also be that in an effort to show their displeasure, CR sacrificed the series they thought would garner the fewest views.

To to clarify, Funimation did announce they will be simulcasting Baka to Test 2:
http://www.funimation.com/rojas/blog/funimation-entertainment-secures-baka-and-test-2-and-ova-s/223651

"The agreement also gives the American anime leader exclusive rights to the online simulcast of the series in the U.S., just days after the new episodes air in Japan starting this month".

Wish CrunchyNewbs would stop changing the titles of the shows.

Dark Rabbit Has 7 Lives != Itsuka Tenma no Kuro-Usagi

Should be "The Black Rabbit Demon from Someday"

Cat God != Nekogami Yaoyorozu

Yaoyorozu is an uncommon word, but my dictionary says it means myriads, so the title should be "Myriads of Cat Gods".

And, if CR insists on changing the titles of certain shows, then they should at least change the titles of all the shows they do... but they still leave "Usagi Drop" (Bunny Drop) "Natsume Yujincho" (Natsume's Book of Friends) and "Kamisama Dolls" (God Dolls) untranslated.

Very inconsistent in their decisions on which titles to translate, and incorrect when they do decide to translate them. Sad

I'd like it if CR would simulcast Doraemon, but then again, they'd probably change to title to "Cat Robot" or something stupid.

You are putting the blame on Crunchyroll, but isn't it possible the English titles are coming from the publisher in Japan? That would also explain why some titles are left unchanged.

Consider for example, that NicoNico.com had the title as A Dark Rabbit has Seven Lives before Crunchyroll did.

Isn't that what they said on ANNCast once, that it's usually the Japanese licensors who decide if the title gets changed or not? And thanks for the link, I missed the bit about a simulcast earlier and that clears a few things up!
