Wow, FUNimation must've been desperate to get this on the air if they went with Superchannel. Honestly, I'd rather see the show not air in Canada at all than air on Superchannel. At least it leaves the possibility open for a channel that people actually watch to grab it.

If someone were to subscribe to this channel specifically to watch FMA:B, it would cost them around $130. ($15 a month for 32 weeks, assuming they air two episodes a week.) If they bought the entire series on BD, it would cost less than $200. Running anime on Superchannel defeats the entire purpose of airing anime on television.

You guys are acting like Funimation was turning down YTV or Teletoon just so they could go with Superchannel. From what I have heard YTV has been phasing out anime, and apparently Teletoon doesn't have any.

The days of Gundam on YTV are over.

At least Canada is airing it at all. Be grateful, Canadians.

Having the show air on Superchannel is of no benefit to anyone. FUNimation would better spend their time actually getting content on the Canadian Netflix service. Their first batch of titles was uploaded day-and-date with the initial US offerings, but we haven't seen anything added since, and we still haven't gotten an explanation why.

Well I guess better than not at all but still full of fail.

1. By now any Canadian fans like myself have either seen the entire series online or own the home video releases.

2. WTH? You can only air DBZ Kai if it uses Canadian talent (Ocean Productions) but for this "we'll let it slide and allow more U.S. programming (dub w/ the American VAs) on TV even though we want more Canadian content".

If there is indeed an Ocean dub of DBZ Kai, it isn't being produced for Canada; it's being produced for European markets. Its production would have absolutely nothing to do with Canadian Content rules.

Just because Super Channel is airing FMA doesn't necessarily mean that another channel won't (though this will likely be the case). I recall a time when both Super Channel and IFC aired Street Fighter II V at the same time.

Is Superchannel some really unpopular channel? Or is it just something not known for showing anime? What else is on the Superchannel?

ASDASDASDADGHASDJKFASKDFA!

With that being said, I'm pissed. YTV has gone the way of the crapper with no Gundam 00, killed Bionix and that awful Saturday morning block. I gotta question they killed Vortex a few years back. They've essentially become Nick Canada (and that's saying something because we HAVE a Nick Canada.) I thought YTV stood for Youth TeleVision?

Teletoon; well, Teletoon only has Bakugan left. They killed pretty much everything related to anime. They aired Megaman NT Warrior at one point though but didn't finish it.

Family; They did air Oban Star Racers, Digimon Data Squad, a ton of Power Rangers, a brief run of DaiGunder and Mon Colle Knights for a while.

IFC aired Macross Plus for a bit, Virus Buster Serge, Noein-To Your Other Self and I do believe a few other shows as well.

Super Channel on the other hand; aired Monster, Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann (which if we had YTV had aired would've got them a ton of views) and now this. I'm really fearing for anime on TV now. Oh well. Considering that's what the internet's for. Trust me; I would buy the DVDs if I could. If a store nearby had them. I hate having to drive to London every time I want something anime related.

As Pepperidge pointed out, it's the definition of premium television channels. The problem is - it has very little content to encourage such a heavy subscription fee. As such, no one really has the channel.

YTV, I am so disappointed in you for not getting this series! Not getting popular hits like Gundam 00, Code Geass, and Gurren Lagann for the former Bionix block is a first sign of trouble. When Inuyasha: Final Act finally gets that long awaited English dub, are you just going to abandon that series too? Didn't Inuyasha got more anime fans watching your channel in the first place?

Look how far you have fallen! You killed the only reason I keep on watching your channel and now you replace it with lame reality shows, more ICarly and yet another American Idol ripoff that no one cares about. Such shame!

Question: did the original Fullmetal Alchemist series and movie do good for YTV back in the day? I haven't checked out the ratings system to see if it is a success or not.

Also, does Superchannel air movies and programs uncut and commercial free? The only good thing about that is that they will leave FMA: B unedited unlike a certain block that keeps chopping the openings and endings and leave out most of the important post credits scenes that are pivotal to the series *coughAdultSwimcough*.

Adult Swim has stopped doing that. It now airs intros and credits sequences as given to them. Blame SyFy, which does squash credits even when plot-relevant things happen during the credits and inserts in more commercial breaks than the amount of fade-in-fade-outs in the episodes.

Of course, since the anime on Adult Swim I watch ONLY on Adult Swim, I don't know if there are any relevant post-credits stuff on their recent shows. I'd think that nothing after the credits should be important, as most viewers, for TV and movies, will leave once the credits start rolling.

So Superchannel is pretty expensive? I see. I'm guessing they're way more expensive than the Disney Channel or Cinemax or all that here in the States. I wonder why they charge so much, in that case. If the Superchannel isn't getting good viewership, and here isn't anything on the channel that's so expensive as to need to charge that much, the logical thing is to lower the price.

Also, anime doesn't bring in money into a TV channel quite like domestic programming does. This is mainly because it's done by a company not directly commissioned by the channel and thus functions like a middleman. That's why anime has been dropped from most TV stations over the 00s. It's really only sustainable if there's a huge merchandising empire behind it, like with Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or Bakugan, because the network will get some of the profits.
