One of the best series of the year although I haven't seen the end yet. A movie sounds very cool.

I'm split on this. While it's cool that it's getting a movie, it 's not cool that the series plot might not be finished and I'll have to wait over a year for the movie to conclude things. Anime cry

Oh god, my body wasn't ready for the final ep and now a movie.

Wonder what this is covering? There's plenty of extra story to do with the different worldline drama CDs, the dating sim, and the upcoming 8-bit game that follows up from the end of the first game.

F***ing hell. I just started marathoning this series because it was ending, and now I find out it's going to have a movie attached to it? I'm with Kruszer on this. The idea of a movie sounds awesome, but waiting a year just for a conclusion does not (if the plot for the series isn't wrapped up).

they wrapped up the entire story within 24 eps. So don't need to worry about the EoE effect.

It has been an awesome ride for the past 6 months. Thanks for the entertainment WHITEFOX, and most importantly, 5pb.

So.....Is Steins;Gate the Movie going to:

A. Compilation Film; basically just take the whole series and edit it into a feature length movie?

B. Filler Film; take place somewhere in the middle of the series and create some random character voiced by Maya Sakamoto?

C. Sequel to Anime Film; take place after that already superb ending and add stuff that just isn't nesseary to the plot?

D. Tuturu~; make a lot of fans (including me) really happy?

The upcoming 8-bit game which is a "sequel" takes place after the true ending. It's also a crossover with Chaos;Head spoiler[the MC from C;H has somehow gotten their hands on the IBN and sets a moe revolution in motion that crashes the economy in the future. Because the time microwave is never made / Okabe has said ""no re-dos" the game doesn't have the d-mail system but instead an action system.]

I'm guessing they're going to do that or as you said a comp film, but if they do that I would think they would change the scene they altered in the t.v copy to what the VN scene was. spoiler[the whole bit with Braun and Moeka dieing, she dies from being stabbed by Mr Braun's kid. It was changed to both her and Braun being killed by being shot. Because they cut all of the "Mr Braun's kid never gets her memory from 15 years in the future ect ect" which is what causes the bad end in that chp.]

I'm hoping the movie is going to be based on its fandisc/sequel, Darling.

"Steins;Gate" is very good anime, but, unfortunately, its concept, while being really interesting, is inconsistent, logically flawed, what tampers with viewer's ability to immerse within the story.

You watch and get sad from time to time, saying to yourself: "If only they would think out more in this and that turning point, this could be a masterpiece". But, alas, the mark is only between "very good" and "excellent" -- which is, anyway, still outstanding praise and rarity among anime.

The film would not resolve conceptual flaws, but will take away some precious nuances of the work. Usually, films for TV series can only work at least as good or even better than original only if the original is watered down, mediocre quality project. Then essence of it could be jammed into film very effectively and make the story really powerful.

But if original work is very strong and nuanced already, then the film is very hard task to do. Usually, it is just the way to commercialize the success. I do not watch such films unless others who do get positively surprised about something there.

The series got a proper finale. So I don't see why this movie would be made besides milking more money off fans for it. I would abhor a compressed adaptation of the series much as I did Unlimited Blade Works last year for the Fate franchise and I don't think I would be as invested if this is based on the dating sim take on the visual novel game released not too long ago.
