Wowza, Aniplex put this out fast, the last episode of the simulcast only aired last week so I'm really impressed at them for that. Shame this didn't get a dub though, I can see this working alright with the other shonen shows on Cartoon Network, maybe there was such a bad response to the DRRR dub they decided it wasn't worth the effort/getting the show out faster made a dub not worth the effort?

Yeah, I'm gobsmacked at how fast this was released. I've been saying for years that twelve or eighteen months is far too long a wait between the end of an Anime broadcast and its official release overseas. Naturally, the simulcast for Blue Exorcist meant the subs and legal hoopla were already available and negotiated, which of course would speed things up significantly.

That said, it should have had a dub, if only because it is a good example of a show which can appeal to casual fans, and casual fans usually want dubs.

But, the sheer speed of this release is still something to cheer about.

I may have to give this another try. I watched the first two episodes on CR and the preview for episode 3 looked like a Soul Eater ripoff, so I dropped it. This could make it onto the "shows I dropped, that I'm willing to give a second chance to" list.

I'm pretty sure 90% of all that actually bought DRRR liked the dub at least. I don't see why, it has a great cast and solid script that stays close to the original.

Let's just call it laziness and seriously, this is available on stream, now why would someone actually want to buy this without dub unless you can't stand watching anime on a PC monitor.

Love the series but around halfway the anime goes its own original route and things get kinda meh, especially when compared to the epic-ness of the manga. That's what happens when you try to condense an ongoing manga into a 26-episode series, I guess. The first half is totally awesome though.

I highly recommend the manga, which I believe is being published in English. I would be very happy if the anime could get a remake that's true to the manga a la FMA.

Perhaps they're just waiting on a TV deal for motivation to get a dub, a la Gurren Lagann, which was released with subtitles first before getting a dub. Of course that was Bandai's doing, not Aniplex, so that might not even be a relevant precedent.

Still, I could see this series kicking ass and taking names in the 12:30 AM Saturday slot Durarara!! currently occupies on Adult Swim, IF ONLY it had a dub...

With you on both points. I really liked the Durarara dub and that cast was one of the things that sold me on buying along with it's connection to Baccano, with that casting I can't imagine it's not done well for them. And Blue Exorcist was just begging for a dub, there's no way something like this wouldn't sell enough copies to support one.

Yeah, I hope so.

Yup, makes it even more crazy, I could easily have seen it be a hit on AS.

Give support for a show that they enjoyed? Show Aniplex that they are happy that they decided to simulcast it and release it in a timely manner? Make certain that they know that people are willing to buy their product so when the eventual season 2 comes then they will also quickly pick it up? There are quite a few reasons that someone would want to actually buy this, so long as they enjoyed the show.

As I get older I tend to avoid shows that look like they will warp into never-ending stories. Blue Exorcist seems like it will fall into that category. I agree that the production values are superb and it has a fast moving plot. I just don't want to commit to another shonen series that, in all likely hood, will go on "forever". I leave those titles to the youngins'.

Hey! I liked episode 6! I also like to cook, which is probably why I liked that episode!

Show started out great, but ended horribly.

This show is another perfect example that shows that start out good don't usually end good. Rolling Eyes

I prefer the ones that start out kinda bad and then end up epicly by the end...the ones that people drop in the first two episodes and don't know what they're missing... but alas, none of those shows are even considered a DVD release here in the states.

But yeah, I won't be buying this. Maybe if it gets a complete collection later down the road for extremely cheap, then i might consider it. Until then, good luck with it getting sales.

30-40 dollars for 7 episodes? No thank you, Aniplex.

Maybe if it had 12 episodes, heck, even if the show was better done, it would be worth that much, but nothing worth buying due to its mediocrity later down the road.

I really enjoyed Blue Exorcist. I felt the series was good enough to have a second season and to have a dub. The last arc that was all filler I thought started out terrible, but ended it wrapping up nicely. I'm just puzzled on why Madoka Magika got a dub and this didn't. If this would of taken Durarara's time slot on AS, teens would love this series.

I dig what Aniplex America is doing with bringing anime here faster... but until they start doing Blu Ray for their shows and sets have the whole series, I'm passing on all of their releases.

That's news to me, from what I've read in the reviews the dub for that show has been praised for the most part.

I loved the Blue Exorcist anime (I haven't got far enough in the manga to see where the two split), but I can't justify buying this as a sub only release and in four parts. I was really on the fence about it, but I really think this series could have expanded to more fans with a dub, I think it's a mistake to not give it one. I don't want to buy a sub, only for a sub/dub to be released later on. I really want to support this series because as I said, I loooovvved it, but I can't do it.

+Great conceptual potential;

-Mediocre execution in the plot;

-Graphics which artificially make characters ugly purely for the sake of "originality", in contrast to "originality and grace", as in case of a true talents;

-Fillers;

-Messed-up ending.
