Yay! A definite day-one purchase for me (BD). I'm not a huge mecha fan but I really the first movie. And the OP still haunts me to this day... such a powerful opener.

That's because KOKIA is epic. Pure Epic.

The entire series is great so you won't be disappointed. My only fear is the price. Sentai always has high prices (that amazon nicely brings down to reasonable levels usually) but as it's a 6-part MOVIE series, I'm gonna say 150 total MINIMUM...but knowing them they'll probably want 40 dollar for each..so 240 is probably what it's gonna cost to get them all. I hope I'm wrong and it ends up on the lower, far more reasonable side. I assumed 40 because it seem most anime bluray retail at 30-40 dollars for bluray (amazon always discounts them to 20-25 though)

I don't know why, but for some reason I thought they had already licensed this one. Anyways I thought it was pretty decent. Might have to pick it up.

Sentai's movies are usually 19.99 a piece.

Sentai's movie MSRPs are generally in line with Hollywood releases, i.e. $29.99 for DVD and $39.99 for bluray. The actual selling prices at most websites usually ends up around $20 for DVD and $25-30 for bluray.

Personally I don't think that's too bad. I've also picked up most of their bluray series for about $38 each. I don't know why anyone would expect their releases to be considerably cheaper than mainstream releases. They well only a small fraction of a Hollywood release. If anything, the should be more expensive due to their niche nature.

I hope it does better in the U.S. than it did in Japan (not a flop but not a success either....highly unsurprising for a real robot series which doesn't have the name "gundam" in it). It changes some stuff regarding the manga and it doesn't exactly "end", but I enjoyed it a lot.

They're going to be on Blu-ray so yes, they're getting dubbed.

This is a happy day, as this is one of the better recent mecha titles. Given that Sentai also grabbed the Mardock Scramble movie series, it doesn't surprise me that they picked up this one, too.

One of my Favorite Mech #Anime of all time. Love just about everything about this story.

I do have a question though..

Any particular reason why Bandai didn't do the US licensing and why Sentai got it? (not meaning to show my ignorance here)

Only seen the first one but it was good so I'll be picking up the rest. The OP is pure awesomeness as some of you have said above.
