Cool to see Fafner license rescued; I wasn't so sure if it ever would be. While I do have Geneon's release of the TV series, I'll be sure to buy the movie and I hope that FUNimation also picked up the Right of Left prequel TV special from 2005.

Hey, Oblivion Island. I remember ages ago Justin said on the podcast that this would likely never get picked up. It's good to see someone taking a risk on it, it seems interesting.

This is really cool! I wanted to see Fafner when it was first released, but I was painfully limited on funds at the time (I was 11-12...Razz), and thus I'm really excited. Haruka looks really awesome as well.

Although... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed that FUNimation didn't come and announce that they rescued "Sailor Moon."

*sigh*

Wow...Fafner? That's kind of an odd choice. I can only think it must be dirt cheap now, but they have been pushing new merch and the new movie, so anything is possible I guess.

I suppose that would give them an additional reason to try and obtain the Soukyuu no Fafner: Exodus series coming in 2012 as a simulcast (in conjunction with NicoNico, given their new agreement).

This is cool. I've always wanted to get Fafner, and hopefully Funimation can do a BD release (I think they'll definitely do one for the movie, considering it's pretty new).

By film, are we referring to Heaven and Earth, the film recently released?

If so....
YES!

Well yet again I have no excitement for any of these license announcements made by Funimation..I'll pass on both.

I'm certainly interested in the Fafner film (I already have the series from when Geneon released them) and Oblivion Island, coming as it did from Production I.G. Looking forward to them, with hopefully a BD release.

I'll pass on both. My hope of seeing a North American release of Time of Eve is slowly dwindling. Koi☆Sento, Norageki, Oblivion Island... all pretty decent anime films for minor productions, but can't I just get Time of Eve? Sorry for the soap box. I hope Fafner and Oblivion Island sell well for Funi.

Just get the import BD like I did, it is subtitled in English and it's region A.

Anyhow, I am interested in the Fafner movie since I've seen the series, and would watch that streaming if Funi decides to do that.

I have the import BD. But I don't have a BD player/HDTV. I imported the Eva 2.22 BD as well, but I also got the Funi DVD so I could actually watch it without heading over a to friend's house and viewing on his system. Plus, there's the fun of seeing it get more coverage. Like, it has been streaming on Crunchyroll for years now and I've never seen ANN do any sort of review for it like they do for other streaming stuff. It is currently ranked 563/1651 (OVA/movie) in terms of popularity and yet it's ranked 33/37 in Bayesian rankings, which is pretty amazing.

Yes! The Oblivion Island movie is finally making it's way over, totally enjoyed that, would totally re-watch it again and look forward to the dub, and buy it on BD (gorgeous movie).

I remember the series quite well so I'll probably check out the Fafner movie as a refresh for getting ready for that upcoming new show, so I could see myself buying both of these new announcements.

HOLY SHIZZNITS!!!! OBLIVION ISLAND????? AWESOME!!!

That is probably the best news to me. I've wanted so much for this movie to come over. I was on the verge of buying the BD. I really enjoyed this movie. I cannot wait. This movie will reach a broader audience with the dub. I don't care for dubs that much but I have family I want to share it with. I hope that Funimation can the rights to the production booklet. The BD LE has a 100-pg production booklet. But chances are I might see the BD version as I really don't want a BD version because nobody in my family has one. So please Funimation please give us a nice LE version with the booklet. I will make sure I pre-order this as soon as more info is released. Thank you Funimation.

*Side note: Does anyone who attended this panel know if anyone asked about the 'To Aru Index/Railgun' series' release?
