hmm i still need to watch this and like many visual novel adapts it was just a bit lackluster. That is not true as much now but chaos;head is fun ride overall. I can not wait to pick up the box-set for stein's;gate next year.

Ya'know, I see the word 'satire' cropping up in reviews alot these days, an in this case especially I have to wonder about that since nothing of this show seems satirical at all. Stereotypical character types and set-up do NOT equal satire, if they did than the better part of all anime romances would be considered satire. Satire needs to be both DELIBERATE AND NOTICABLE, this is neither.

i was planning on buying chaos head in Amazon.com, idk gave me secong thoughts about it, i remember watching it, was good but not great, i expected more . Also Todd Haberkorn err.. he good acto,r but man he needs rest, is almost like he in every series as main heroine.

I urge anyone even remotely interested in this to read the visual novel. The anime adaptation, as usual, is complete trash.

Finally! Someone said something good about Chaos;Head. (I thought I was alone out here).
I know it had its cheesyness, but, MAN, does it completely throw you off base when you absolutely least expect it. The mindbending atmosphere of mystery, suspense, and psychological tension just make the show addictive. I think those factors perfectly combine with the harem motif of the series. I guess I'm one of the only ones who thinks Chaos;Head was better than Steins;Gate. (which was weird, confusing, and overlycryptic.) |

I think most people agree that this wasn't the best adaption from a visual novel to an anime. From what I heard the visual novel is pretty highly rated and that the anime doesn't give it the credit it deserves.

No, you don't. Even though it takes place within the same setting (Akiba), it's set a year after the events in Chaos;Head occur, and the characters are completely different. The story is also completely unrelated. Some of the concepts are similar, though. |

Actually, Chaos;HEAd takes place in Shibuya, while Steins;Gate is in Akiba. But yes, they do take place in the same continuity, have their own individual storylines, and they don't need to see one to watch the other. (though there are side-story materials in Japan that feature characters from both, for example in a drama CD I believe Okabe Rintarou from S;G meets Sena Aoi from C;H. And Takumi Nishijou is also supposedly in Steins;Gate 8-Bit) |

Oh Carlo. This mess of a story full of D-Swords, IR2=FUN^10 + INT^40, characters that don't do anything, spoiler[Dallas ending], and an overall awful second half of the show earns a B- from ya? I could have given it a B in the first half, but in the 2nd when ya get Gigalomaniacs, quakes granting super-powers linked to little cellphone charms, nonsensical mathematical equations treated as important despite never being explained, and a very interesting murder/mystery/thriller from the first half that turns into one of the blandest 'must destroy evil corporation' story I have ever seen in the second... it was bad. It was really, really bad. This show is terrible. I would have given the story the lowest score, yet Carlo gives it the highest. Oh Carlo.

I'm not sure if the series needed a full second season, but it definitely needed more time. It had a lot of mindbending stuff that it was able to explain in interesting ways for the first part of the series, but then a lot of loose ends were left by the wayside as the ending came crashing onto the scene. IR2 in particular was a wasted concept.
I actually preferred the anime's visual style compared to the visual novel. The VN looks very dating sim-y. I don't think there's any question that Steins;Gate did a lot more right. Its beginning was a little bulky for some people, but I felt that it got out everything it needed to, and made everything (almost; the otaku-pandering in the early episodes just raised a barrier to entry for some folks with no benefit) relevant. |

A B- for story is being overly generous.
I just could not be bothered to remember all those corny made-up words. I was gaping my mouth in disbelief through the whole show wondering what the hell is happening. The show tries to mind-fudge you but it only gets lost in the web it constructs, stumbling all the way. The only salvation the series offers is when the protag grows a pair at the very end. |

The beginning was well executed. It kept you on suspense thinking it will be unique. Unfortunately in the end the story becomes cliche and a bit disappointing.
Not to say I'm not going to buy it, I'm going to get it but it could definitely have been as a good as Steins;Gate. |
