The review is spot on. I know many are lukewarm towards Uta Koi, but it's become one of the highlights of the season for me. It always leaves me with a warm yet sad and melancholic feeling. And I too was off-put by the transition episode (I admit I laughed out loud at the Poet Card Duel), I wish they hadn't wasted a whole episode like that, I'd rather have more poems and stories (even though it was kind of weird and fun)

I started watching this because it's josei, AND I'LL GOSH DARN TAKE ANYTHING I CAN GET in that regards. I know it doesn't fit a lot of viewers' tastes, but I love the art.

And I rather liked the quirky left-field comedy moments and random stuff. When you're trying to make mothy stuff fun, I think it's a legit way to do it.

Chihayafuru did explain in Kanade's introduction episode what the true meaning of the poem was, so I already knew it was a love poem with a hidden meaning. It would be kind of nice if Rebecca had paid attention to Chihayafuru, as it was a most excellent show.

I did pay plenty of attention to Chihayafuru, thank you very much. Very Happy What I was trying to get at was that it's one thing to have Kanade explain the poem to you and another to see it played out before your eyes - you know, the old "show not tell" thing. Personally I found seeing Narihira and Takaiko's story was a more meaningful experience in terms of really appreciating the poem than a simple explanation.
