It's somewhere in the middle. He's not completely out of the political sphere; simply resigning his previous post as Tokyo's Governor. From I understand of this man, he isn't exactly the most "likable" person in the Japanese government. |

So, Japan's Favorite Fascist resigned as Tokyo's governor? How... nice.
Of course, he's already done a lot of damage. Hopefully someone will ship him off to an old folks him and he can terrorize the staff there instead of the population of Japan's largest city. He probably resigned after his ego was offended when his party refused to back him in his desire to be the next prime minister. Dunno if that's true, but it wouldn't suprise me in the least. |

I read about this in the Evening Standard on the way home. Would like to say I'm pleased, but he isn't completely out of the picture and he has left his mark for well over a decade... And that's just his role as Governor of Tokyo.
My uninformed judgement thinks that a new party should have a lot of trouble working it's way up, hence he may not live to become Prime Minister, then I guess he has been Governor for a long time and chances are he would have needed to be voted back in once or something... >_> |
