Ah this set, kinda forgot about it after voyage 3 and waiting for voyage 4 (and desprately keeping myself from buying the manga volumes ATM). I'd say this review almost matches what I thought of this set, all of the "soul" the actors put into the fro jokes was just hilarious and when Aokiji showed up, it was a nice reminder of the shows "grit" that it has with me, not much but a reminder.

For me the weakest was the memory loss filler arc. I remember liking it the first time when I saw it subbed and I do like seeing the strawhats react to each other with their memory loss and the complete abuse of that FA's "antagonist" but still it feel pretty flat for me in the end.

The best part of thsi set is really Aokiji and the arrival at water seven which kicks off into the best set the season has had, voyage 3 & 4 and I can't wait to see the review of 3 (if any) and to get 4 in the mail. (having your mom be a total fangirl of the show has its benifits Anime catgrin )

Wasn't the Ocean's Dream arc actually based off a video game? If so, that might explain how poor it is. One Piece tends to have enjoyable filler that at least tries to be faithful to its wacky, awesome soul, but from what I remember, Ocean's Dream just kind of lurches on with no enthusiasm.

Yep, it was based on a video game based on word of mouth here and elsewhere. The dates do match up as the original game title dates back to May 2003 while this arc aired in February 2005. I haven't played or watched the game to see how they match up. Plot description in the source below doesn't seem too different.

I would have liked a filler based on Unlimited Adventure myself, but then the anime needs to get some sort of adaptation for all of those front page stories first.

Just curious about which sets of One Piece get a review. Are these the only ones that Funimation sends out to be reviewed? Or do they send out each release and the reviewers/editors decide which ones get reviewed?

Not being critical of the choices, just wondering about the sporadic nature of which ones get a review.
