For those who are new to Haruhi series.

Watch season 1.. skip season 2.. watch the movie and then this up coming movie Smile

Season 2 is just a bunch of deja vu episodes and the making of that crappy movie of their.

I checked out the manga and the art style at the beginning is not the same as the anime, so i didn't bother with it. I heard Haruhi is based of the novels though.

Haruhi is a good series as long you skip season 2. Trust me you will not miss much.

yes. i agree with the users below.. but watching 4-6 episodes of season 2 is enough. Just skip the Deja Vu episodes, which i did.

I can still understand the movie just fine.

Don't Skip Just find the Timeline correct order in which to watch, and then watch, And then Challenge yourself to complete the endless eight.... It's like a real life achievement.

The movie is exceptional as well.

Just remember the order in which they aired is not the correct order, alot of sites have it correct based on the timeline and not ow they were aired.

Now if only Yuki chan were real Anime cry.

^ Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody is needed since the movie directly revisits the events of that episode (it's the first episode of season 2).

The other season two episodes could be skipped, but I have seen every Endless Eight episode since I am a hardcore fan.

It's probably weird that I'm suddenly interested in watching this just because she's working on it, isn't it?

No, no, no, no. In order to better understand Nagato Yuki's actions during the movie, one needs to watch the "second season" (in quotation marks because the second airing of Haruhi wasn't a season season, but an expended re-airing of the first show + new episodes, all airing at seemingly-disjointed order), or at the very least watch the entirety of Endless Eight; yes, it quickly wears out its welcome, but due to the outcome of the arc and how it affected her, Yuki has begun to change, which leads to her behavior in the movie.

I liked the "what-if" Yuki scenario from the movie, I'm eagerly waiting for the show.

I edited my original post about the 2nd season.

and true. Watching it in order would be helpful.

Sure the Endless 8 is repetitive... but it's fun. I enjoyed it.

I wouldn't skip it if you like the show thus far.

For those who are curious, it's literally 8 episodes that are about 88% identical to each other. (See what I did there? Anime smallmouth)

Looking forward to this movie. I wonder if it will be licensed.

It's been too long since I got my Haruhi fix.....far too long. I will enjoy the anime so much. Even though it's not canon, I don't care, anything Haruhi at this point I'll take with joy!

I really do hope this gets the franchise back on track in terms of popularity. There is so much more of the novels to animate and as a preference, I think I would rather wait for the anime (that might never come).

Regardless of some bumps mostly in the second season, that first series is genius.

Is this true? I'm a huge fan of the series, but have never read the novels. The author kinda stopped writing though, right? I really wish for the series to have some kind of ending, but I'm happy that we're getting more animated content either way.

There are 5 novels not animated: Intrigues, Indignation, Disassociation, and Surprise. Tanigawa took 4 years to put out Surprise (double-sized) and this was back in 2011. He admitted he did not even begin writing Surprise until the middle of 2009 (he had been writing a manga between those two books?). I would suggest reading the novels out by Yen Press and just assume Surprise is the ending.

Thank you for explaining things! I'll check them out then, didn't realize there was that much content that hadn't been animated. Yeah, I also really hope that we get another true season or two of Haruhi, it's so much fun.

This anime will be the first time that I've read the source material beforehand!

Love the Haruhi stuff. Have seen the tv series (but only watched 3 eps of the endless eight), seen the movie, read the novels and the manga adaption...and own them all too!

Yuki-chan is probably my favourite ongoing manga at the moment. Personally, hoping that this series is 1 cour, because I believe the real "meat" of the story can be done nicely in 12 episodes.

Wouldn't be against it having more episodes, but seeing as we're only one volume behind Japan, a lot of episodes would just seem like SoL/fluff. I'd still watch the anime, if it ends up being more than 12 eps.

Back to the Haruhi novels, I think that there was/is a rumor that there might be another book. But, IMO, I liked how Surprise ended things.
