Those colors. They're so glorious.

Anyways, I'm expecting this to be extremely dumb. Needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to it and will watch the crap out of it.

That is a glorious intro song. Can't wait. Need a good dumb action anime to pass the time.

I'm loving this. Smile
The art style and character movements look like a callback to the mecha-show of the 70's-80's, and the action shows (mainly those who focuses on physical battle, like Hokuto no Ken) of the 80's-90's.

The music fitted very well to the scenes shown, as well.

I'm really pumped that they're going all out to capture that late 80's/early 90's OVA feel, right down to the aspect ratio. This looks like something I'd find in a dollar bin and that makes me happy.

i really hope that aspect ratio turns into 16:9, its 2015, 4:3 is irrelevant.

I feel like you're completely missing the point here

I don't really understand how people keep seeing things like this in these trailers. The art style looks like a modern, light-novel style from what actual clips they've shown of the characters so far (just pause the video at 1:24 --- that's modern character design, that's not old-school at all). The mecha/armor looks pretty modern too. The action looks about standard for any sort of action/sentai/battle-focused work. Just because it has a lot of neon colors doesn't really make it reminiscent of 80's/90's anime, tbh, the way it's colored with the see-through/moving patterns reminds me more of Gankutsuou than anything I'd seen back in the day. What kind of works are you all referring to that have oversaturated neon colors like this?

I'm a huge fan of Studio Trigger and what they did with Inferno Cop, Little Witch Academia and Kill la Kill, and I do look forward to seeing what direction they take this show. I'm just not seeing the 80's/90's vibe that people keep mentioning they're seeing in these trailers (aspect-ratio notwithstanding).

"A ninja is a demigod entity that controlled society during the Heian period with karate."

They had me at this.

Yeah, there's really nothing 80s in any of the design work or style. Oh they made in 4:3, gooooddd for them. If 80s anime had neon, it was for things in the background, not the actual characters themselves. I'm with Kikaioh, this looks more like Kung Fu Love by Studio 4C than it does Hokuto no Ken or Megazone 23 (the most 80s of 80s anime). The most retro thing about it is the aspect ratio.

I hadn't noticed the Light Novel look, since I was only concentrating on the... Mech Ninjas? Nice find.

The people at Gainax and Trigger are clearly fans of 70s Anime, so I don't know why people think they would start making tributes to the 80s, at least in a big way. The only thing that made me think of the 80s, was 1:34.

That is a colorful color palette, but I think I would have preferred it more dark and suspenseful than bursting with color, especially in a show like this about ninjas.

So they're naming songs used for this show after western albums and musicians? Nevertheless, I've liked everything I've seen from Trigger, so I'll be looking forward to this one too.

The vibe I'm getting from this is that they're making an anime based on what a westerner thinks ninja and anime Japan must be like. (Which I think was their intent, considering the fake story about it being adapted from an English-language novel...or something like that?)

Man, so much product placement. The animation looks impressive but the coloring on the ninja characters is gonna give me headaches.
