I'm not surprised. The last movie helped prime people's interest in seeing more, plus this one has the return of an old villain, which helps play up the nostalgia factor.

DBZ just feels so "meh" to me at this point. I used to like the series quite a bit, but my enthusiasm for has basically run dry. At this point it seems like milking what's left of an old cow.

Given the opening it's really not that great. It opened 100 million yen ahead of Conan but is well on its way to have a lower total gross despite 3D. Frontloaded basically.

Compare to superman or batman, it's not even close to the 40+ yrs these series have compare to DB

Great job, 26 million after 19 days is amazing, Its been a Great year to be a Dragonball/ Dragonball Z fan!!!!!

Suppose that's true enough, though at the same time, DBZ has just worn on me quite a lot in comparison. Partially because I dislike how the series went and how it is going.
