I certainly hope that's the case. I remember a time when Ryan's columns were one of the few review outlets on the 'Net where anime dubs were paid any kind of attention.

I may not have always agreed with his assessments on certain titles (I'll always be keen on Tylor I'm afraid) Wink, but he was somewhat of a trailblazer when it came to online dub coverage and ANN's losing out on a valued and respected contributor with his retirement.

ANN has really blossomed in recent years into what many hail as the definitive anime info resource on the 'Net which is a big reason why a column like the Dub Track is invaluable... to help shed light on the high-quality dubs and performances that the casual everyday fan won't automatically seek out on their own.

Here's hoping the column isn't on hiatus for too long.

Crying or Very sad Thank you. I'll pass this on to Ryan-chan. I'm sure he enjoys your gratitude. Don't worry, his retirement is for a good reason. We are just starting our life together and hopefully we'll have little dub fans (and cosplayers) running around in the future. Ryan will still likely keep writing an occasional editorial. I'm not a big enough audience for his opinions. Smile

I don't know if anyone already noticed, but the title reads:
Quote:
The Dub Track - Goodbye
by Christopher Macdonald, Jan 10 2005

Shouldn't this read "by Ryan Mathews"?

Also, I don't really watch that many dubs, but I did enjoy reading his column on occasion. I wish Ryan all the best.

I consider myself a dub otaku, and am interested in reviving "The Dub Track" column. To whom would I speak about doing this? I would be more than willing to interview or submit a sample article, if that is required. I believe that dubbing has made such progress in the past few years, that people need to be awakened to the wonderful myriad dubbers out there.

Please let me know about this as soon as possible.

Until then, when you watch DVD's and Blu-Rays, don't ignore the dub track!

You'd want to contact Zac Bertschy, the Executive editor, about this.

And get yourself a better-res avatar! You're disrespecting the subject matter. Wink
