Two new licensed were announced, both of them related to existing Pioneer properties. These are the second 14-episode season of the Gainax series "Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden", titled "Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful", and the 13-episode series Haibane Renmei (Charcoal Feather Federation). The latter features a script by Serial Experiments Lain and NieA_7 creator Yoshitoshi ABe and is based on his original characters. Both series will be released on four DVD's starting in August.

In addition to these official licensing announcements, a representative of another studio accidentally let slip that Pioneer had licensed Macross Zero. This was not confirmed by Pioneer.

The Licensed by Royal TV series, trailers for which appeared on recently-released Pioneer DVD's was also officially confirmed. It will be retitled "Licensed by Royalty" and released starting November 2003. Other titles to be released in the next several months include Master Keaton, with eight five-episode DVD's coming out starting in June, Heat Guy J (25 episodes, seven volumes; boxes holding three volumes each will be made available with volumes 1 and 4 at a price point of $34.98; price points for stand-alone volumes will be $29.98. The first box will also include a full disc of unspecified extras), and Lupin III: The Mystery of Mamo.

The Sakura Taisen movie will receive a limited theatrical release.

Finally, a number of soundtracks will be released in the immediate future, including Chobits, Lain, Hellsing, Patlabor WXIII, and a CD of music composed by Kajiura Yuki (Eat-Man, Noir, Aquarian Age).
