Otakon - 2003

Over 100 people gathered early Saturday afternoon to listen to Central Park Media's panel. The panel was initiated with a disc of trailers that introduced the series that were currently being released.

The representatives discussed their upcoming releases, like Cat's Soup. In addition to the commentary track, the DVD will also include a half-hour interview with director Tatsuo Satō.

There was a comment made about more possible Alien Nine episodes being made. There is also a new arc of the Alien Nine manga, called emulators, that they announced has been acquired.

The Patlabor DVD release will feature restored video and come with a running commentary by Oshii on the first 3 episodes. The DNA2 boxset will be coming out soon, which will include some features like sing-along tracks for the opening and ending, and others.

Kuromi Animation Runner will be premiering at the Big Apple Anime Fest. Extras planned for the DVDs include commentary from Akitarō Daichi and others.

The following information was given to Anime News Network after the CPM panel.

  • The remaining episodes of Black Jack will be released on Billingual DVD.
  • There is no new news on World of Narue, but CPM does have it.
  • CPM has aquired Arcade Gamer Fubuki, and it will be on DVD in the first half of 2004.
  • They will be releasing They Were Eleven on DVD.
  • last but not least, they plan on finishing back catalog "very soon."
