Anime Boston— one of the largest cons in the U.S., with over 17,000 attendees last year —takes place at the Hynes Convention Center, which is attached to a shopping mall. It's a little surreal sometimes: you might see Princess Zelda eyeing handbags in front of the Coach store, a gothic lolita in line at the Dunkin' Donuts, or families posing with an anime character as though they're at Disneyland. It's chaotic, but convenient: hotels, restaurants of all shapes/sizes/prices, and emergency cosplay supplies without even having to leave the great indoors? Perfect for a weekend of rain (Saturday) and wind (Sunday).
