Square Enix CEO: 'Surprise' Console JRPG to Be Announced in 2015

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Business trade publication Nikkei's Trendy Nikkei website posted an interview with Square Enix Holdings CEO Yōsuke Matsuda on Tuesday.

Near the end of the interview, when asked about console games for this year, Matsuda discussed Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryū to Sekaiju no Shiro and Final Fantasy Type-0, and then added, "We already started by announcing Final Fantasy XV, and we will also reveal news about a JRPG. This year I think we will have a little surprise."

When asked about the surprise, Matsuda added: "I can't say anything now. It will be a JRPG for home consoles. Additionally, our Western studios are working the latest Tomb Raider title, Rise of the Tomb Raider, as well as Just Cause 3. I think we have high expectations for both titles. Now, we are preparing various things for E3."

Matsuda added that he thinks Square Enix will be able to show off various games at Tokyo Game Show later this year.
