Capcom Producer: Discussions on New Onimusha Game Happening at 'High Levels'

posted on by Karen Ressler

CAPCOM producer Yoshinori Ono (Street Fighter, Onimusha) addressed the prospects of a new Onimusha game in an interview with UK news website Daily Star Online on Monday.

"I've spoken internally with people who made Onimusha with me originally and talked about maybe how interesting it would be to revisit that series," Ono said. "But fans should know that we're not further down that road than the discussion phase."

He added, "All I can do for now is reassure fans that conversations are happening at high levels. We realize the need for different series to maybe come back into the forefront and although there's nothing to talk about right now, I'm sure in the future there will be news on variety of series that will keep the fans happy."

CAPCOM filed a trademark for "Onimusha" in the field of games on November 17, 2015.

CAPCOM last released Onimusha Soul, a port of the 2012 browser game, in 2014 on the PlayStation 3. AnimeWorks released Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, a CG film compiling footage from the 2006 PlayStation 2 game of the same name, in 2013.
