ICv2: Attack on Titan's 1st Volume Sells 21,000 in U.S. in 2017

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Comics industry news source ICv2 revealed on Monday that the first English volume of Kodansha Comics' English release of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga sold 21,000 copies in the United States in 2017.

In addition, ICv2 reported that "a rough calculation shows yuri outselling yaoi in bookstores by a slim margin," citing releases in the genre by Seven Seas Entertainment, Yen Press, and Viz Media.

The Attack on Titan manga had more than 71 million copies in print as of December.

Isayama launched the manga in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009, and Kodansha published the 24th compiled book volume in Japan last December. The first of three original anime DVDs adapting Hiroshi Seko's Attack on Titan: Lost Girls spinoff novel bundled with the volume. Kodansha Comics publishes the series in print in English, and it released the 23rd volume last December. Crunchyroll also publishes the manga in English digitally as new chapters are published in Japan.
