Funimation's Case Closed, KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple Licenses Expire

posted on by Karen Ressler

An administrator on the FUNimation Entertainment forums announced on Friday that Case Closed and KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple are no longer available on Funimation's streaming service because the company's rights have expired.

Funimation licensed the first 104 episodes of Detective Conan in 2003 and released it under the title Case Closed. The company ultimately released 130 episodes on DVD.

The 130 episodes licensed by Funimation have also been removed from Crunchyroll. The series is still streaming weekly on Crunchyroll, but the catalog only has episodes 754 and later. Crunchyroll had added Funimation's episodes in January.

Funimation announced its license of the first season of KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple in 2008, and released both seasons on DVD.
