Shogakukan to Issue Reprints of 2 Shōnen Sunday S Magazine Issues

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Shogakukan announced on Thursday that it will issue reprints of the June and July issues of its Shōnen Sunday S magazine after bookstores have been selling out of the issues. The reprints are scheduled to arrive in bookstores on June 13 or later.

The June issue (seen right) shipped on April 25, and the July issue shipped on May 25. Both issues feature the character Toru Amuro from Gōshō Aoyama's Detective Conan manga on the cover. The June issue bundled a "Toru Amuro Triple Face Sticker," while the July issue bundled a clear file featuring scenes from the recent Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer film.

The Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer film opened in Japan on April 13, and its story centers on the character Toru Amuro. As of May 27, the film has earned 7,569,065,200 yen (about US$68.6 million) and has sold 5.8 million tickets. The movie has stayed at #1 at the Japanese box office for seven consecutive weekends. The film is now the highest-grossing film in the franchise.

Takahiro Arai launched a spinoff manga centering on Toru Amuro in the main Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on May 9.
