In episode 9 on the English dub, Chika makes references to the songs 'Everybody Hurts' by R.E.M. and 'Hold On' by Wilson Phillips; quoting lyrics from each songs' chorus while watching a sad Yamada lie in bed.
In episode 12, at 5:55, on the left side of Chika is the manga of B Gata H Kei.
In episode 12 on the English dub, when Yamada and Kosuda are at the hotel watching porn, you can hear the female porn star (Jamie Marchi) call the male porn star 'Potter,' which is the last name of the male porn star's voice actor, Brandon Potter. In the outtakes on the DVD, you can hear both of them having fun with their lines for this scene.
