Trivia:

An alternate version of Mi-Kun, Leiji Matsumoto's fictional feline character, is featured in this classic. In this, Mi-Kun belonged to Dr. Zero, who resembled Dr. Sakezo Sado from "Space Battleship Yamato" (Star Blazers), an anime with another version of this cat, portraying him as belonging to Dr. Sado himself.

Wasn't released in America domestically until 34 years after it original aired in Japan.

The William Winckler Productions dub combined 10 episodes into 2 movies. The first combined episodes 6, 21, 27, 30 & 32 and the second combined episodes 36, 37, 38, 39 & 41.

In episode 8, Yattaran, the first mate of the Arcadia, was looking for his Space Battleship Yamato model. Both Space Pirate Captain Harlock and Space Battleship Yamato were created by Leiji Matsumoto.
