Mahoraba ~Heartful days~ (TV)

Befitting of the story's sweet and heartwarming tone as well as its prevalant use of fairytale motiffs, the word "Mahoraba" is the Japanese for "Wonderland."

All the main characters’ surnames are color-coded: each contains a color term that (kind of) matches their personalities: Shiratori (白鳥) is white, Aoba (蒼葉) is pale blue, Akasaka (赤坂) is red, Kanazawa (金沢) is gold, Midorikawa (緑川) is green, Konno (紺野) is purple, Chanohata (茶ノ畑) is brown, Momono (桃乃) is pink, Kurosaki (黒崎) is black, Haibara (灰原) is gray, and Shirogane (銀) is silver.

In Ep 4 Chanohata is reading a book on “Superfluid Fersi Gases” –actually *Fermi* gases (which is what happens when fermions… oh, just Wikipedia it). The page she is browsing has a picture of a Mandelbrot set, the best-known fractal set.

Ep 9 the book Ryuushi’s classmate is returning is called “Polly Hatter and the Secret Stone”.

In episode 18 "meow meow meow", the five cats look like the cats from Shuffle! (the cats appear when the mini commerical break comes)

In episode 20, a couple of "students" play the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto for the Musical Instrument Club at the Cultural Festival. The dialogue and audio indeed match this, but those with quick fingers on the pause key will find that the program reads "Mendelssohn Piano Concerto" (at least, on the original broadcast version-- the inevitably released DVD might correct this). Oops.
