Episode 10 features a brief cameo of John Doe, the main character of Watsuki's one-shot story Embalming - Dead Body and Bride: he appears on the tv screen of the videogame Okakura is playing.
In episode 6, Tokiko is wrapped up in bandages by Kazuki's sister and ends up looking like Makoto Shishio. Shishio is a character from Rurouni Kenshin, which is by the same mangaka as Busou Renkin.
In episode 7 the pig in the corner by the crowd of students when Tokiko is being introduced to the classmates is Watsuki Nobuhiro, the creator of Busou Renkin. It is also voice by Watsuki Nobuhiro himself.
In episode 10, the Kagugane Shuusui Hayasaka uses is called Sword Samurai X, which is the english name of Rurouni Kenshin, from the same mangaka who wrote Busou Renkin.
In episode 15, after Kazuki gets poor grades on his report card, he says "Ororo~!" which Kenshin Himura of Rurouni Kenshin, another Nobuhiro Watsuki series, says frequently.
In episode 23, Okakura, A friend of Kazuki, sang the Opening theme of Busou Renkin when they will go at the karaoke
