The newspaper Miyako is working over at the beginning of Episode 2 is the exact same newspaper from Pani Poni Dash! Episode 24 that appeared at the end of Akira Miyata's segment (the headline was about the Miyata Dam breaking). Miyata and Sae are both voice by Ryoko Shintani and, amusingly, the Miyata Dam is located in Ryoko's home prefecture of Ishikawa.

In episode 3 when Yoshinoya-sensei is posing for the art students, she is later shown wearing a maid's outfit from He is My Master, another series animated by SHAFT.

In episode 3, while they are showing the snacks, on one of the packages it has Sara and Noel Characters From Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch.

In episode 3 and at 14:55, Miyako had a die with numbers 1,3,5 written in dots, but at 15:01 the 1,3,5 were written in numbers.

In episode 8, when Hiro is cradling the sleeping Sae's head in her lap, the object that Yuno helpfully hands her is an ear-cleaner. This stick, with a scoop at one end and a tuft at the other, is used to clean ears -- and doing so is considered an intimate and close-knit thing to do, something that wives do for their husbands.

In episode 11, there's a picture of Yoshinoya-sensei cosplaying as Motsu from Negima!?, another series animated from SHAFT.
