Shigurui: Death Frenzy Collection
On a raw mechanical level, Shiguri may well be the finest animé series that I've come across in years, and there's little question that I will still be revisiting it in just as many years from now.

Perfect Blue
Nonetheless, Perfect Blue remains a great movie, and it has been treated well here. With this release, Siren may have just done enough to lay their older, dustier image to rest.

Naruto Shippūden Collection 01
The action is there, the story (finally) is there, and yet it's handled in such a way that you are always left with the impression that it could have been much better.

Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino- Collection DVD
The addition of a much more rounded story with Pinocchio and the perspective given from the terrorist side certainly brings forth a similar yet different satisfaction. Despite these changes, when the series wants to get you deeply, it still can; just don't expect it to happen as much.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Premium Collection OVA
Even with the lower than normal price tag and a few good shorts, it's still hard to recommend this to anyone but the most dedicated of fans.

Blade of the Phantom Master: Shin Angyo Onshi
Blade of the Phantom Master is essentially a series of wonderfully made action pieces, jammed in between some average conversational work and blended together by an overall story that is just in pieces by the end. But it's not all bad.

Studio 4C is back with 5 more directors and 5 more short films. Can it live up to the success of its predecessor or has the groundbreaking studio striven for too much?

The tale of the battle of wits between Light Yagami and L, as told from the perspective of the shinigami, Ryuk., Death Note: R presents a self-contained recap of much of the original series' storyline.

Baccano! Vol. 1 DVD 1
At first glance, Baccano!'s plot is hazy at best. Even after watching the entire first volume the fog has not yet lifted. Perhaps that was the intended effect...
