Male Version of NMB48 Idol Group Planned in Osaka

Osaka counterpart to Tokyo's AKB48 inspires all-male song-and-dance group
The Sports Nippon newspaper reports that a "major entertainment production" agency is forming a male version of NMB48, the Osaka-based counterpart to Tokyo's all-female idol group AKB48. Like the actual female NMB48 group, this male version will be based in Osaka's Minami district. The main Kintetsu Department Store in Osaka's Abeno neighborhood will construct a 400-seat theater in its Art Kan event venue.
The agency will begin recruiting "males, 20 years old or younger, who can commute to Osaka" in late February. The final auditions will take place in the middle of March, and after singing and dancing lessons, the group will debut in June. The agency intends to hold about one performance every month.
