24-Hour Podcast Raises US$31,500+ for Quake Charity

North American industry helps raise money for Japanese earthquake/tsunami relief

From 6:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Saturday, March 19 until 6:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, March 20, the fan-run One Piece Podcast held a 24-hour marathon podcast featuring voice actors and other members of the North American anime/manga industry as a fundraiser to raise money for earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan.

At press time, the official website for the charity marathon stated that the event had raised US$31,515, which will be donated to the Global Giving charity organization. The website is also still taking donations, although its original goal was US$25,000.

The official website for the podcast has also announced a "mini-marathon" fundraiser to take place on Sunday, March 27.
