N. American release of mature horror game to retain Japanese voice acting

On Thursday, the video game publisher XSEED Games announced that it acquired the North American rights to the Japanese horror PSP game Corpse Party. It will be available only as a download on the online PlayStation Store later this fall. Originally developed by Team GrisGris, the game was ported to the PSP by 5pb. last year.

The story follows of a group of Kisaragi Academy High School students trapped in an elementary school haunted by children who disappeared. Players try to survive the violence that befalls the teenagers as they try to escape from the decaying bodies of the children.

The game offers 2D sprite animation and tile art to illustrate the fates of the students. The North American release will retain the Japanese-language voice acting.

The Corpse Party: Blood Covered manga series, based on the original Team GrisGris game, has been running in Square Enix's Gangan Powered and Gangan Joker magazines since 2008.
