California's AM2 to Host Ace Attorney Film's US Premiere

posted on by Justin Sevakis
2 screenings planned for Takashi Miike's live-action adaptation of CAPCOM game

The anime convention AM2 announced on Wednesday that it will host the American premiere of the live action Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban) film. The convention plans two screenings, one of which will be available only to premium "Passport" ticket holders, while the second will be open to all attendees and merely grant "Passport" holders preferential seating. The convention did not state how many seats would be available for the film.

In its second year, AM2 will take place on June 15-17 at the Anaheim Convention Center and Anaheim Hilton in Anaheim, California. There is no charge for regular attendees.

Takashi Miike's film adaptation of CAPCOM's videogame franchise takes place in a parallel Japan, where a large increase in harsh crimes has led to a new court system. Under this new system, the defense attorney and public prosecutor have three days to battle cases out in open court to determine guilt or innocence of the accused, placing priority on speed instead of thorough investigation.

The film opened in Japan on February 11. At its international premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, director Miike predicted that the film would be released worldwide.
