Actress Emily Blunt Discusses All You Need Is Kill Film

Five-Year Engagement star to undergo "intensive training" before production begins in fall

Actress Emily Blunt (The Five-Year Engagement, The Devil Wears Prada) talked with Entertainment Weekly magazine about her role in Warner Brothers' feature film adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's prose novel All You Need Is Kill earlier this month. Blunt acknowledged that she is attached to the film, in which Tom Cruise will play a battle-armored soldier who finds himself dying and re-incarnating over and over again during an alien invasion.

Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) is directing, and Blunt said that production will start this fall. In the meantime, she said that she will undergo intensive training: "I'm actually quite nervous about the training. I'm supposed to be playing one of the best soldiers in the world. Ha. Ha. I think my life is going to miserable for about 10 weeks. But I'm very excited."

Viz Media published Sakurazaka's novel in English to launch its Haikasoru imprint for Japanese science fiction and fantasy in 2009.

Thanks to Daniel Zelter for the tip.
