Plastic cover becomes smartphone stand when door opens
Mobile phone accessory maker gourmandise is selling iPhone covers shaped like the "Dokodemo Door" (Anywhere Door) from the Doraemon manga and anime series. The back of the covers opens just like Doraemon's own door that leads to wherever the user wishes in Fujiko F. Fujio's original story.
When the door is open, the covers double as phone stands. The plastic covers are compatible with iPhone4 and iPhone4S smartphones, and they cost 2,480 yen (about US$31).
Two staff members at a Yamanashi Prefecture tourist facility displayed a full-size recreation of the Dokodemo Door in February. The device also appeared in a Toyota ad campaign starring international film star Jean Reno last year.
