Hoshi no Shoujotai☆ to perform opening song, cover songs

It was announced on Tuesday that four voice actresses from the upcoming anime adaptation of SCA-ji and Kira Inugami's Ebiten: Kōritsu Ebisugawa Kōkō Tenmon-Bu manga will band together to form the new unit Hoshi no Shoujotai☆. The group consists of Iori Nomizu, Asuka Nishi, Risako Murai, and Midori Tsukimiya, and will perform the anime's opening theme for the version of the show that will be streamed on the niconico (previously Nico Nico Douga) video service beginning in July. In the anime, the four actresses will play the roles of Elizabeth Margaret, Hakata Kanamori, Rikei Hiromatsu, and Yuka Iseda, respectively. The unit will make an appearance at a May 26 event in Tokyo celebrating their formation.

Ebiten's story centers around Itsuki Noya, a boy who wishes to join his school's astronomy club (tenmon-bu). However, he actually entered the similarly named Tenmon-bu — a club for fujoshi (female otaku) interests. The series will be produced by AIC Classic and directed by Hideki Okamoto (Battle Girls - Time Paradox).

SCA-ji and Inugami launched the manga in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine in 2008, and the second compiled book volume was published last year. Inugami's other works include illustrations in the Seitokai no Ichizon (Student Council's Discretion) light novels and the mascot character for the card game division of the character goods maker Broccoli.
