JMSDF Makes Two Voice Actresses "Ship Captain of the Day"

The official "Maritan Diary" blog for the Maritan manga franchise has announced that voice actresses Sumire Uesaka and Mai Kadowaki will be made "ship captain of the day" on May 26 and 27, respectively, as a part of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's (JMSDF) "Marine Fest 2012 in Funabashi" event in Chiba Prefecture. Both voice actresses will captain the Yamayūki escort ship for 90 minutes on their respective days, and those interested could apply to ride the ships by applying via postcard until May 11.
After Uesaka finishes sailing, she will hold a public recording of her "Uesaka Sumire's Armored Guards Infantry Regiment Broadcast" military-related live stream on the niconico video service. Kadowaki will hold a talk event after completing her duties on the Yamayūki while dressed as the "Marine Jieitan" character (pictured at right). Kadowaki has also played the voice of the Jieitan character in the past. Special Maritan goods, such as a ribbon-shaped magnet and a sports towel, will also be sold at the event.
