Tales of Xillia 2's Decision System Previewed in Video

posted on by Egan Loo
Main hero Ludger faces choice between standing up or surrendering in PS3 RPG

On Thursday, Namco Bandai Games began streaming a video that introduces the decision system in its Tales of Xillia 2 role-playing game. The video is set after the encounter between the main character Ludger Will Kresnik (played by Takashi Kondō) and the eight-year-old heroine Elle Mel Marta (Mariya Ise), as shown in three previous videos.

After a violent gun attack aboard a train, Ludger faces two choices: stand up to the attackers by pressing the L1 button, or surrender by pressing R1. The video previews what happens when the player chooses either outcome.

This "RPG where choice weaves the future" is set one year after the ending of the first Tales of Xillia. Daigo Okumura (Tales of the Tempest, Yumeria game, Elementhunters) is designing the characters, and Ayumi Hamasaki (Inuyasha) is contributing the theme song as she did in the first Tales of Xillia game.

The game will ship for the PlayStation 3 console on November 1. Pre-orders will cost 8,380 yen (about US$105) and include the Tales of Xillia 2 Before Episode novel and artbook by the scenario writer, the alternate downloadable Ludger costumes (including Tales of Symphonia's Emil costume), and a custom PlayStation 3 theme. Buyers can also add an official Dual Shock 3 Tales of Xillia 2 X (Cross) edition controller for a total of 12,980 yen (US$163).
