Sanrio's #1 mascot character ran for the top elected position in the United States. A pop-up campaign center opened in Washington D.C. on November 1 and closed on Tuesday.
Hello Kitty ran under the "Friendship Party" with a campaign slogan that focused on "friendship, fun and happiness", according to the character's campaign manager, Sanrio's David Marchi.
The campaign store sold limited edition merchandise and housed a photo booth, Hello Kitty Georgetown Cupcakes, a balloon artist, and Sephora representatives to makeover participants.
In an unrelated campaign, clothing retailer Forever21 is launching Hello Kitty-themed line of clothing on November 16. All the pieces are set to retail for less than US$30 and it includes wearable clothing and jewelry. The jewelry designs were sourced to Los Angeles designer Onch Movement.
