Pop Group TRF, Artist Okama Contribute to New Pretty Rhythm Anime

Story, staff revealed for 3rd anime based on Takara Tomy's game for girls

At the Monday unveiling event for the new Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live television anime series, the musical group TRF revealed that their hit song "Boy Meets Girl" will be the anime's theme song. Specifically, Prizmmy☆, the real-life dance vocal unit who have performed in the anime franchise, is singing a cover of the song. TRF's rapper DJ Koo himself will appear in the anime as "DJ Coo."

Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live will be set in a different world from the previous anime based on Takara Tomy's Pretty Rhythm Mini-Skirt arcade game for girls. The story will center around Naru Ayase, an imaginative second-year middle school girl. Her dream is to eventually own a fashion shop like Dear Crown. One day, she learns that a new shop is looking to hire a middle school girl (who knows how to "Prism Dance") to run the shop, and she quickly applies. She goes to the job tryouts, where a mysterious girl named Rinne appears.

The Monday event also revealed the staff of the new anime. Director Masakazu Hishida (2009 Yatterman anime film, Onmyou Taisenki) returns from the first two anime series at Tatsunoko Productions and Dongwoo Animation. Shuji Iuchi (Mashin Eiyūden Wataru) is in charge of the series scripts, and character designer Mai Matsuura (Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru, La storia della Arcana Famiglia) is adapting the original designs from Okama (Cloth Road, Himawari!).

The cast will be announced next month.
