I.G Seeks Interpreters in Canada for Oshii's The Last Druid Film

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Japanese-English & Japanese-English-French translators in Montreal, Toronto needed

Production I.G is looking for interpreters and interns in the Montreal and Toronto areas to work on The Last Druid: Garm Wars, the English-language live-action film from director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers).

Japanese-English-French or Japanese-English speakers in the Montreal area can send their resumes to grm_intern_montreal@production-ig.co.jp (grm_intern_montreal at production-ig.co.jp) (Japanese-English-French ability preferred). Japanese-English speakers in the Toronto area can send their resumes to grm_intern_toronto (at production-ig.co.jp). Production I.G is looking to hire 3-5 people in each area who will need to be able to work on location. Interpreter applicants need to have some experience in the film industry, but intern applicants do not need to have film experience.

Those interested should e-mail their resumes to Production I.G by January 31. The company will begin interviewing finalists in Montreal during the week of February 3. Toronto candidates will be interviewed online unless they can travel to Montreal. Oshii himself will not be at the interviews, but the film's main producers and some of Production I.G's staff will in attendance.

Oshii is filming the movie in Canada from February to April. The film is planned for release in early summer of 2014. From the start, the staff is looking to bring the film out in 50 international countries and territories.

The military science-fiction thriller will be Oshii's first live-action English-language film. The Nakamura Group Advantage, a Canadian entertainment company, describes the story as follows:

Taking place in a world of war known as Annwn, Garm Wars sets the scene with clone soldiers from 3 military tribes, in a bloody and perpetual battle of air, land and technology. One clone, Khara, finds herself separated from battle and on the run with unlikely companions. In seeking to know more about their joint existence, the fugitives instead find an unrelenting truth and the greatest battle of their lives.

Geoffrey Gunn (Fangs of War) collaborated on the English-language script, and producer and Production I.G President Mitsuhisa Ishikawa (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers) is once again working with Oshii. Ken Nakamura (Fangs of War, Provocateur), the CEO of the Nakamura Group Advantage, is also producing the film with Tetsu Fujimura (Tekken), the head of the Japanese movie business consulting firm Filosophia. Lon Molnar, the head of the visual effects studio Intelligent Creatures, is serving as the VFX supervisor.
