GACKT Music Video Offers Look at Moon Saga Play With CLAMP

Singer wrote, directed, starred as general Minamoto no Yoshitsune in stage play

Singer GACKT released the music video for his new single "Sakura Chiru" (Cherry Blossoms Fall) from his compilation album "BEST OF BEST vol.1-MILD-" on Sunday. The video contains footage of Moon Saga Yoshitsune Hiden (Moon Saga: The Secret of Yoshitsune), his stage play collaboration with CLAMP. GACKT co-created, wrote, directed, and starred in the lead role of Minamoto no Yoshitsune.

Minamoto no Yoshitsune was a general who was critical to the Genpei War that inspired the literary classic Heike Monogatari (Tale of the Heike). The play's version of Yoshitsune possesses strange powers.

The play ran in Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Osaka between July 15 and October 2 of last year. A manga series premiered in a Kodansha manga magazine before the play opened. The producers were also planning to develop the project into anime, game, film, and other venues.

GACKT's song "Claymore" from the same album is also being used in the Japanese theatrical run of Silent Hill: Revelation 3D film. The album will ship on July 3 in a regular edition and in a two-disc limited edition "BEST OF BEST vol.1 M/W" with deluxe bonuses.
