Attack on Titan Gets Promotional Ferrari With Full-Body Suit Titan

US$600,000 car arrives at drug store to promote the first Blu-ray/DVD volume of Shingeki no Kyojin anime

A 40 million yen (about US$401,250) Ferrari 458 Spider vehicle covered in Attack on Titan decals appeared at the Akiba Drug & Cafe establishment in Tokyo's Akihabara district on Wednesday in celebration of the release of the anime's first Blu-ray and DVD volume. The total price of the car including decals is approximately 60 million yen (about US$601,850). The car is owned by the drug store, and will be used for a month's time for promotional uses. In addition, a person wearing a full-body titan suit appeared at the cafe on Wednesday, and handed out postcards promoting the anime's release on Blu-ray and DVD.

Pony Canyon, who are releasing the anime on Blu-ray and DVD, gave the reason for using a Ferrari for promotion:

The colors of a red Ferrari and a titan are almost an exact match. We wanted to do a collaboration between the strongest creature and the fastest car.

MagiDiGi TV also posted a video of the car (and the titan) in action. The anime's opening theme songs "Guren no Yumiya" and "Jiyū no Tsubasa" by Linked Horizon play in the background:

More pictures of the car and titan can be viewed at Mainichi Shimbun's Mantan Web.
