Nintendo Recreates Zelda: A Link Between Worlds in NYC with Eiji Aonuma

Game director and designer Eiji Aonuma may need to borrow from Link's bag of tricks if he wants to escape his pursuers.

Nintendo posted a video that uses the streets of New York City as the stage for their latest Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds promotional video.

The video stars Nintendo video game director and designer Eiji Aonuma who just wants to talk to viewers about the game, but is chased by two guys who are trying to drag him back to his busy schedule at New York Comic Con. During his escape, he uses Link's new ability to go into "Paper" mode to slide along walls and around obstacles. The video also includes examples of game play that showcases Link's ability, the classic top-down view, and the new item system.

The game, which will be for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS, is the follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The game will be set in the same world as A Link to the Past, but it will take advantage of the 3D screen of the Nintendo 3DS to give players a better sense of a dungeon or maze's multiple levels in three dimensions.

Nintendo confirmed last month that it will release the limited-edition Triforce Nintendo 3DS XL and Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds bundle in North America. The bundle will ship in North America on November 22, the same day that the standalone game ships. The gold-colored 3DS XL (known as 3DS LL in Japan) will then debut in Japan on December 26 for 22,800 yen (about US$230).
