Granrodeo to Offer Gender-Segregated Concerts

GRANRODEO, the Japanese rock band behind the opening themes of anime like Kurokami The Animation and Immortal Grand Prix, announced on January 5 that they will conduct a concert tour later this year. The tour will start with a performance at Tokyo's Studio Coast on May 18 and tour the country until July 6, performing at a total of nine different venues. The final venue, Zepp Tokyo, will see four different GRANRODEO concerts, but the first two (on the weekend of June 28-29) will be gender-segregated: men only on Saturday, women only on Sunday. An advance lottery for tickets to the concerts is currently being held at their fan club's website.
GRANRODEO will also hold a concert on February 16 at Osaka's Osaka-jō Hall; it will be broadcast via the satellite channel Fuji TV Next.
Gender-segregated concerts are not entirely unusual in Japan. Other musical acts, like Momoiro Clover Z and Gackt, have held them too, and GRANRODEO held a men-only concert in 2009.
