2nd Volume of March 11 Earthquake Manga Anthology Now Available

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Story 311 ― Are kara 3-nen (3/11 Stories―3 Years Since Then) manga anthology went on sale March 11. The manga anthology is created as part of charity with royalties donated for reconstruction of areas affected by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster that struck Japan on March 11, 2011.

The volume contains works by Satoru Hiura (Hotaru no Hikari - It's Only Little Light in My Life), Toshinao Aoki (Kurumi no Ki!), Ume (Giga Tokyo Toy Box), Keiko Okamoto (Corrector Yui), Mayu Shinjo (Demon Love, Ai Ore, Love Celeb), Tomoko Ninomiya (Nodame Cantabile), Naoko Matsuda (Jūhan Shuttai!), Kyo Hatsuki (Itaya-san to Ushiyama-san, Sudden Death), Nagamu Nanaji (Parfait Tic!, Aruitō), Riho Sachimi, and Kazumi Ohya.

A number of manga and comic anthologies have been released since 2011 to benefit affected areas. Viz Media recruited artists for its "Art for Hope" project, Rumiko Takahashi and other artists collaborated on the "Heroes Comeback" project, and international creators came together for the Little Hands book.

Actors Beat Takeshi and Takuya Kimura won an award in 2012 for their Toyota commercial dealing with the areas affected by the quake.
